Too many absences make it difficult for a child to establish relationships in the classroom. Please contact the Day School Office when your child will be absent so his/her teacher is aware. Some children have an extremely difficult time separating from parents. If this is the case, you may be asked to bring your child for a shorter period of time. The time will increase until your child is able to stay the entire school day.
Children must be signed in. When a child is brought to school, he/she may only be left in the care of a staff member. Each child must be accompanied to his/her classroom by the adult who brings the child to school. The adult will sign the classroom clipboard, indicating the transfer of responsibilty for the child from the adult to the classroom teacher. Please be sure that your child's teacher has acknowledged his/her arrival in the classroom. Arrival is between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m. If you arrive before 9:00 a.m., be prepared to entertain your child outside the classroom until 9:00 a.m.
Upon entering the classroom, we ask that all children immediately wash their hands to help eliminate some of the bacteria and allergens which are carried in.
If your child arrives at school with a dirty diaper, you must change it before leaving him/her with the teaching staff.
Children must be signed out. Dismissal is at 1:00 p.m. The adult picking up the child must sign the classroom clipboard, indicating the transfer of responsibility from the teacher to the adult. Please be sure that your child's teacher acknowledges his/her departure. Children will only be released to parents and those adults whom the parent has authorized in writing. Custody issues will be enforced according to court orders. Adults other than parents who are picking up children must show their identification to the classroom teacher.
If your child attends Stay n Play, dismissal is no later than 2:30 p.m.
If you like to visit with other parents, please leave the classroom and visit outside. Teachers need to set up for the next day. Even if you are present in the building, your child must be signed out to your care or you will be considered late. When you are late, it creates anxiety for your child and also inconveniences staff members.
Please Note: If you have something to discuss with a teacher, schedule a time when you can talk privately or email them. Arrival and dismissal are very difficult points in time to try to communicate with a teacher. Please remember that the teacher is resonsibile for the supervision of all of the children present in the classroom/playground. Notes to the teacher are very helpful, and some teachers keep a parent communication log (be sure and give a copy of all notes to the Director).
Late Pickup Fee
If you pick up your child after 1:00 p.m. (or after 2:30 p.m. for Stay n Play), you will be charged a fee of $1.00 per minute per child.
Please do not block the church or Rissman Hall driveway. Do not double park. Parking in undesignated spaces is dangerous and hazardous to parents trying to walk their children into the school. Red and yellow curbs are "no parking" zones and fire lanes. Handicapped spaces must be left for those who need them. Children must never be permitted at any time to cross the driveway or parking lot alone.
If you belong to a carpool, your car pool members must also be listed on your Emergency Contact Form. A written note must be sent to your child's teacher if your child is going home with someone who is not on your emergency contact form. A staff member may ask an adult who is picking up your child to see his/her license. We are not trying to embarrass the adult, but protect your child! Children may be released only to a person designated in writing by the parents.
An extra booster seat is kept in the Dayschool Office for parents who are carpooling that have forgotten to provide their child's car seat to the driver. When borrowing the booster seat, you must sign in/out the seat on the form located on the wall just above the location of the booster seat. Each booster seat must be properly secured in the vehicle according to the specifications of the manufacturer of each booster seat. Additionally, the child must be properly secured in the booster seat according to the specifications of the manufacturer of each booster seat in which the child is sitting. FPDS neither assumes nor accepts responsibility for these booster seats. They merely are being made available to parents in situations that are carpooling a child and do not have an extra car seat for that child.
As a common courtesy, please do not allow children to eat while sitting in these booster seats in order to preserve their longevity and return them in clean condition.
Additionally, it is imperative that you inform us if you are in a car accident while using these booster seats so we may determine if their safety has been compromised for future use.
